Jessica's Design Philosophy
Design is a key element in everyone’s life whether they realize it or not. It is a subtle thing that can brighten a person’s day or make them feel comfortable and welcome. A great design can make someone’s work space seem not as daunting and actually make them feel like going to work and being in that space, therefore making them more productive and successful.
A well executed design in someone’s home can not only make the owner feel relaxed and safe, but can also make visitors feel at ease and welcomed into the space. My design philosophy is quite simple, i believe in assesing every design situation and adapting to and learning from it. I design spaces in ways that the client can appreciate by using my creativity and knowledge of color and composition while also adding touches of their personality. I believe that there is no excuse why a space cannot serve its function while also conveying its occupant’s personality.

Bio
I am an Interior Designer at Art Sample Home in Saginaw, Michigan. I have been there since August 2011 and continue to learn there every single day. Day to day my job is helping clients with space planning and picking out furnishings for their rooms. Through the experiences I have with clients in the store I am able to go on housecalls where I am able to get to a whole other level with interaction and design with my clients. I have done housecalls that are as simple as accessories to as vast as many rooms and many stories of the home. Once I am able to gain my client's trust and they allow me to do a housecall they then tend to realize how much them needed one in the first place. Being able to get a third party's advice who has no ties to the space is invaluable to most people and make them step out of the box and their comfort zone, resulting in (hopefully!) a happy client. Although my current job is in residential design I have been able to gain some knowledge in commerical design through my internship at Pinnacle Design in Saginaw, Michigan, before graduation in May of 2011 from Central Michigan University. This internship took me completely out of my comfort zone where I worked primarily in office design with panel systems where I learned everything from drawing out these systems on CAD, to what parts are required through setting up these systems first hand. My dream design job would be to design hotels and restaurants because they are places where human interaction and memorable moments take place. They are places where anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, reunions and other milestones take place and where memories are made.
